Last Bubble Soon to Burst

1st August 2016

Last Bubble soon to burst. Chessington World of Adventures has announced the long-rumoured closure of one of its most iconic rides. The Bubbleworks will close to the public, and the factory is due to be under new ownership. As a result of the planned changes, the legendary ride will be closed to the public on the 6th of September. After much speculation, the park has confirmed it will not restore the ride to its former Professor Burp’s glory.

Although unconfirmed, hints strongly suggest the ride draws from an existing themed story. Believed to be having a Gruffalo retheme after the book. This is in contrast to the more original and wild theme of the ride’s predecessor. Which demonstrated that a successful ride doesn’t need to follow an existing narrative.

Even though the ride is closing to the public, the park expects to deliver a full revamp or retheme. Moreover, recent closed-season investments in the ride’s hardware strongly suggest the layout will remain. The boats, water trough, and station systems are therefore expected to stay in place. Furthermore, no official update has mentioned the ride’s iconic fountain finale. However, many fans still hope this sensational moment will remain.

The final rides will take place on the 6th of September, before the attraction closes to the public forever. Over the years, the Bubbleworks slowly lost its magic. Many effects broke and never returned, and some original music was replaced. As a result, the ride gradually lost much of its original charm. Although the Bubbleworks will be missed, it has clearly passed its prime. Therefore, a full refurbishment now feels long overdue.

Chessington Buzz will be following the project closely, so be sure to keep an eye on our social media channels for all of the latest news and updates from the park.
