Forbidden Kingdom
Step into Forbidden Kingdom at Chessington World of Adventures, and travel back to the age of ancient Egypt, where gods ruled, and curses still linger. This themed land first opened in 1994, transforming a former sci-fi space into a world of temples, carvings, and towering stone structures. However, the idea of an Egyptian setting wasn’t new. It originally inspired the park’s log flume before evolving into the fully realised land guests explore today.
From the moment you enter, the atmosphere surrounds you. Weathered rockwork, ancient symbols, and pathways create a sense of discovery at every turn. Meanwhile, the land’s detailed design brings the story to life, blending mystery with adventure.
At the heart of Forbidden Kingdom lies Tomb Blaster, a fan-favourite dark ride where guests battle an ancient curse using laser blasters. Not only does it offer interactive fun, but it also carries decades of history within. Just beyond, Croc Drop dominates the skyline. This towering ride, themed to the crocodile god Sobek, challenges guests to “Brave the Drop, Release the Curse” as they plunge towards its open jaws.
However, thrills have always been part of this land’s identity. With the addition of Rameses Revenge in 1995, Forbidden Kingdom quickly became one of the park’s most thrilling areas. Although that ride has since closed, its spirit lives on through Croc Drop’s commanding presence.
For 2026, the land evolves once again. Rattlesnake now joins the line-up, bringing its sharp turns and wild mouse chaos into the ancient setting following the removal of Mexicana. As a result, Forbidden Kingdom continues to blend past and present, combining classic attractions with new experiences.
Overall, Forbidden Kingdom stands as one of Chessington’s most immersive lands. Whether you’re uncovering secrets, chasing high scores, or braving daring drops, adventure is always waiting just beyond the temple gates.
