Opening in 2023, this record-breaking attraction launched Chessington into a bold new era, delivering thrills unlike anything the park had seen before.

Right from the station, you’ll notice this isn’t a typical coaster. The team at Bolliger & Mabillard created something entirely new, making Mandrill Mayhem the first wing coaster of its kind. Instead of completing a full circuit, the ride uses a shuttle layout. As a result, you’ll race both forwards and backwards along the same tangled track.

As the train dispatches, the first launch fires you backwards into a junior scorpion tail. Then, before you can settle, another launch pushes you deeper into the action. In total, four launches drive the experience, each one boosting the speed and intensity. Consequently, the ride keeps a relentless pace, switching direction and catching you off guard.

Meanwhile, the seating adds another layer of unpredictability. The back row faces the opposite direction, which effectively creates two front rows on every train. So, depending on your seat, you’ll either charge headfirst into the elements or get pulled backwards through the chaos. Either way, every ride feels fresh.

At the centre of it all stands the towering Jaguar Shrine, rising 20 metres above the land. The track twists tightly around this structure, pulling you closer with every pass. And, at just the right moment, the ride delivers another surprise. You flip upside down, marking the first inversion on any roller coaster at Chessington.

Furthermore, the story ties directly into the Jumanji universe. You must return the jewel and lift the curse, all while the jungle throws obstacle after obstacle in your path. The rapid launches, sudden switches and tight turns all reflect the unpredictable nature of the game.
